Your assessment journey

Xyla has supported thousands of families and individuals seeking clarity. From your initial consultation through to support beyond diagnosis, we’re by your side. Our services are delivered online by experienced clinicians, giving you access to high-quality support without long waiting times.

A clear, supportive process from start to finish

Our assessment pathway is designed to feel structured, reassuring and easy to navigate. Each step builds towards meaningful answers, helping children, teenagers and adults better understand their strengths, differences and next steps.

1. Free initial consultation

Start with a free 15-minute phone call. This is a relaxed conversation to understand what has prompted an assessment and whether this is the right next step. This is a chance to ask questions, talk things through and feel confident about what comes next.

2. Getting to know you

Background information is gathered through questionnaires and conversations. This may include input from family members, close friends, parents and school. This helps us understand strengths and challenges and what matters most.

3. Personalised assessment

A structured and supportive assessment delivered online by an expert clinician. The session explores developmental history, current experiences and how traits may be presenting across different settings.

4. Clear outcomes and guidance

We’ll provide a detailed clinical report and talk through the diagnostic outcome of your assessment, along with personalised recommendations, including post-diagnostic support and treatment pathways where appropriate.

5. Support beyond diagnosis

Support doesn’t end with a diagnosis. We offer optional, tailored sessions to help you or your child better understand and manage everyday life. From emotional regulation to routines and relationships, our support is shaped around what matters most to you.

Post-diagnostic support sessions are offered at an additional cost. Learn more here.

Frequently asked questions

Are assessments carried out online?

Yes. All ADHD, autism and combined assessments are delivered online by experienced specialist clinicians.

The entire process is structured and supportive and follows NHS-reccomended guidelines, allowing access to high-quality care without long waiting times.

What is a combined assessment?

A combined assessment explores both ADHD and autism within the same pathway. This can be helpful where traits overlap or where there is uncertainty about which assessment is most appropriate. The consultation helps determine whether this approach is suitable.

How long does the assessment process to a diagnosis take?

We can book you in for an assessment within 2 weeks of your initial consultation. Timeframes to a diagnostic outcome can vary depending on how quickly background information is returned. Clear expectations are outlined during the initial consultation so the process feels transparent from the outset.

What happens if ADHD, autism or both are diagnosed?

A comprehensive report is provided, including tailored recommendations. This may include reasonable adjustments for education or work, therapy options, coaching or discussion of medication pathways where appropriate. Our optional post-diagnostic support sessions are available to help plan next steps with confidence.

What happens if a diagnosis is not made?

The assessment still provides clarity. The clinician will explain the outcome carefully and may suggest alternative explanations or further support options if helpful.

Are the reports recognised by schools, universities, employers, or the NHS?

Our diagnostic assessment reports are widely accepted by schools, employers and support services to inform reasonable adjustments, educational plans or workplace accommodations.

Our assessments are conducted by qualified and experienced clinicians using recognised, standardised tools, such as Conners and DIVA-5 for ADHD, and ADOS-2 for autism, in full alignment with NICE guidelines and best clinical practice. We follow rigorous clinical governance processes that mirror those of the NHS. Thanks to this alignment, you can be reassured that our diagnoses are routinely accepted by NHS services that recognise private assessments.

It’s important to note that some NHS services may still require their own evaluation before prescribing medication, and local authorities may have specific criteria for Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). We’re here to support you with any next steps, and with your consent, can share your report with your GP to help ensure coordinated care.

Please note: We are not an emergency service, if you are in crisis and need urgent support or are worried about immediate risk of harm to self or others, please call 999. Alternatively, you can contact your GP and ask for an emergency appointment or visit your local A&E department in the United Kingdom. You can also contact the following services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week: NHS Helpline (111) and Samaritans (116 123)
