  • Understanding autism: Guidance for adults – Session 3

Building your toolkit

Now that you have learnt about autism, and how it affects you, it is time to start considering ways in which you can help yourself through different tools.

In session 3, we will cover different tools, including:

Assertiveness: Learn how to tell people what you want or need, and help build confidence in talking to other people

Thought Challenging: Learn how to cope with thoughts that can be upsetting, make you feel low in mood, or even feel anxious.

Sensory Regulation: Learn to cope with different senses that can leave you feeling overwhelmed and lead to emotional outbursts, talking through different tools such as mindfulness and grounding.

Which of these strategies would help you best?

Please note: We are not an emergency service, if you are in crisis and need urgent support or are worried about immediate risk of harm to self or others, please call 999.
