Personalised support beyond diagnosis

Understanding your diagnosis

These sessions, led by our experienced and approachable clinicians, are designed to help you make sense of your recent diagnosis, whether ADHD, autism, or a combined diagnosis. We’ll work with you to explore your diagnosis in practical terms, breaking down complex information into clear, relatable insights that support your understanding and confidence.

These sessions are not about trying to change who you are, but to celebrate you and help find ways to manage things you might find difficult.

We encourage you to have to hand anything that will help you feel at ease, whether it’s a fidget toy or something that helps you feel safe and comfortable. Regular breaks can be agreed and you can go at your own pace. The aim of the sessions is to find out what works best for you, in a number of areas of your life.

Keeping you safe

Our clinician’s are here to  keep you safe, whilst what you tell them during your sessions is confidential if at any point, they are concerned that you or someone else is in immediate harm or danger they may need to break that confidentiality and tell someone trusted. Your clinician will explain all of this to you during your sessions.

If you are concerned at any time about how you are feeling or that things are feeling so overwhelming, please reach out to a trusted adult for support.

If you feel that you cannot keep yourself safe you can always go to your local Accident and Emergency Department at your local Hospital.

What to expect

Our Patient Services Team will be in touch via telephone to arrange your introductory support session, this may be just for you or with a parent or trusted adult. This session will be delivered via a secure video platform and a link will be emailed to you once you have found a suitable time and date for your first session.

Your first 60-minute session may feel a bit strange to start with, but your clinician will want to get to know you and how you work. Together you can decide on what you would like to work on and focus on not only things you are finding difficult but also areas you are excelling in. Future sessions will be held weekly and for 60 minutes.
