We understand that taking the first step towards an assessment can feel overwhelming, especially when you have so many questions about your experiences and what support might look like beyond a diagnosis.
We’ve gathered answers to some of the most common questions we receive, so you can feel informed, supported and confident as you take the next steps.
Xyla provides gold-standard ADHD and autism assessments for adults and children aged 7 and over. Our assessments are NICE-compliant, meaning our clinicians follow NHS-recognised diagnostic tools and adhere to the highest standards of practice. Beyond diagnosis, we offer personalised support, including therapeutic intervention, wellbeing and lifestyle education, and expert guidance on medication and treatment options.
Our services are delivered entirely online, so you can access trusted, quality-assured assessments and expert support from the comfort of your home. We have a proven track record in delivering thousands of remote ADHD and autism assessments, along with expert post-diagnostic care.
If you’re unsure whether to seek an ADHD, autism, or combined assessment, our free pre-assessment consultation can help. Our experienced team will guide you based on your experiences, symptoms and history to ensure you receive the most appropriate evaluation.
In most cases, yes. Our assessments are conducted by qualified clinicians using standardised tools (such as Conners and DIVA-5 for ADHD, and ADOS-2 for autism) and follow best clinical practices in line with NICE guidelines. Schools, employers, and other services generally accept our diagnostic reports to support reasonable adjustments, educational plans, or workplace accommodations.
However, acceptance can vary. Some NHS services may require their own assessment before prescribing medication, and local authorities may have specific requirements for Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). We’re happy to support you through any next steps and, with your consent, can share your report with your GP to help ensure coordinated care.
We offer a free 15-minute phone call with one of our specialists to explore how we can support you. We’ll take time to understand your or your child’s experiences, symptoms or concerns and offer guidance on what support or assessment options might be right for you. There’s no obligation, just reassurance and a helpful starting point.
NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) guidelines provide evidence-based recommendations for healthcare practices. They ensure that assessments, treatments, and care are delivered to the highest standard, promoting safety, quality, and consistency in healthcare. Xyla follows these guidelines, meaning our services are delivered to the highest standards of care.
The DIVA-5 is a structured assessment tool used to diagnose ADHD, while the ADOS-2 is used to assess autism. Both are validated, trusted tools that help clinicians gather important information for an accurate diagnosis.

Yes. It’s recommended to notify the NHS service if you choose a private assessment, so your spot can be offered to someone else.
