We know that receiving a neurodiversity diagnosis can feel validating and empowering; however, it can also feel very overwhelming. We wanted to let you know that you are not alone.
Our friendly and compassionate team offers CBT sessions designed to help you understand your diagnosis better and manage its challenges effectively.
Navigating a neurodiversity diagnosis can seem overwhelming, our Post Diagnostic Intervention programme (PDI) and friendly clinicians will help you to reflect on your personal experiences, recognising both strengths and areas of challenge.
These sessions will provide valuable insights into how neurodiversity affects your daily life and equip you with practical strategies to thrive.
We’re here to guide you in your first steps towards self-advocacy and confidence, identifying your individual and specific needs and working with you to find ways of meeting them.
Our Patient Services Team will be in touch via telephone to arrange the first appointment for you. This session will be delivered via a secure video platform, and a link will be emailed to you at the time of booking.
In your first session your clinician may gain some background information to explore where in particular areas of difficulty are present and discuss how the sessions will look moving forward each week. You will also have the opportunity to ask any questions you might have. Future sessions will be held weekly and for 60 minutes.
With all psychoeducational interventions it’s important that the space in which it is conducted is the right fit for those accessing it. For some, talking face to face with a professional is not a concern, but for many it can be overwhelming and stressful even within the most comfortable of settings.
Digital sessions allow you to access our intervention with more anonymity and with the ability to pick where they feel comfortable for their sessions to take place. Our clinicians are trained and experienced in working digitally and come with resources and ideas to help you engage on the digital platform. As with face-to-face work all our clinicians are supervised by an experienced supervisor and their work is audited internally to ensure that you are getting the best standard of practice they deserve.
These sessions are educational and will include information to help you understand your diagnosis, the common symptoms you may be experiencing, and specific tools and techniques to help you with the difficulties you may be experiencing.
Following diagnosis, you will be offered 6, one-hour long CBT support sessions with one of our specially trained therapists.
Sessions are held remotely, we find this makes it easier to attend and makes sessions more accessible. Sessions are held via a secure video connection, this is to ensure that you get the most of out of your session
Sessions are held weekly, with the same cognitive behavioral therapist.
We find that people gain more from their sessions through regular attendance, however we understand that there may be times when circumstances change.
Please contact our patient support team on xxxxxxxxxxx who will be able to cancel your session for you.
Please note that if you miss two or more sessions without notice that may result in discharge from the service.
